The KU Card was introduced in the Spring of 1998. It is the official ID issued to all students, faculty, and staff at The University of Kansas. It also functions as an access and purchasing card.
When the card is issued, Beak ‘Em Bucks, a stored-value account, is automatically set up and linked to it. This account is used for photocopying, printing, laundry, and food purchases on campus, as well as purchases off campus.
Students and employees also have the option of linking their KU Card to a Commerce Bank free KU Checking Account so they can use it as their ATM card and limited debit card on and off campus.
The merchants in Lawrence and those on or surrounding the Edwards Campus are an extension of the KU campus in terms of products and services of interest to our students, faculty, and staff. We welcome you to become a member of the KU Card program.
