KU Card

Card Replacement

Lost or stolen cards must be deactivated immediately online via the Kyou portal (login, click the “Finances” tab and then choose the “Report your KU Card lost or stolen” link), in person at the Card Center (during business hours), or by calling the Card Center at 785-864-5845. The Card Center’s office hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays).

Replacement of a damaged card requires presenting the card to the Card Center staff for evaluation.

  • Students may be issued a replacement KU Card if they are enrolled, or if it is between semesters and they were enrolled during the previous semester.
  • Students who have graduated are not eligible for a replacement KU Card until such time they re-enroll.
  • Faculty and staff must be currently employed at the University of Kansas to be eligible for a replacement KU Card.
  • Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID. One of the following will be accepted (no exceptions): driver's license, passport, military ID or State ID.
  • Your official name, as it appears in the university student records system or payroll system, will print on your card. The name on the photo ID you present to the Card Center staff for verification must match.
  • Bring your damaged card (if applicable).
  • Students, staff, and faculty will be billed $15 for a replacement card.

Please note:

  • Students, faculty, staff, and affiliates are entitled to carry only one active KU Card.
  • If your KU Card is replaced due to loss or theft, it is deactivated and cannot be reactivated should you find it at a later date. Only the latest card printed is valid.
  • Requests for a name change, resulting in the issuance of a replacement card, costs $15. If it is determined that a name is incorrect in the University database due to the University's error, no charge will be assessed to the cardholder for a replacement card.
  • Your replacement KU Card will be active the day following issuance for most campus privileges/services, plus meal plan (if applicable). However, if you have money in your Beak ‘Em Bucks account, it will be active immediately.
  • The filing of a police report does not waive the replacement fee for a stolen card.
